These were so good! I didn't use the sherry vinegar though because I couldn't find it. I used balsalmic instead and it came out great. Blue cheese mixture was so good I could eat it by the spoonfull. I will definitely make again.

These burgers came out amazing! I've made the recipe as stated twice. I used grass fed sirloin, buttermilk blue cheese, and 365 brand wheat buns....served with pesto fingerling potatoes (Cooking light 2013) and steamed asparagus. This burger is a very sophisticated complex burger with layers of flavor from the tobacco to sherry vinegar onions and tangy blue cheese....yet so simple to prepare. For this reason, they will be our go to entertaining burgers- simple yet immensely flavorful and delicious! A crowd pleaser!

A great burger recipe! Make it even better by using 2/3 sirloin and 1/3 lamb. Here's a nice side: peel and cube (about 1/2 inch) sweet potato, wrap in foil with mascarpone, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper. Start on the grill a few minutes before the burgers.

Great burger! We had a rather small amount of blue cheese remaining so mixed it into the burger meat instead of letting it go to waste. Make sure you get sturdy buns (bakery department instead of bread aisle).

So I made this with Ground Turkey (97/3), reduced fat blue cheese and mayo and used butter and olive oil cooking sprays! Dropped the calories and fat in half while keeping all the protein. If you need a little healthier I'd highly recommend doing this, they were amazing. Girlfriend approved as well!

This is by far the best burger I have ever had, that was cooked at home. I used 1 tsp. of balsamic vinegar and 1 tsp. of white wine vinegar in place of the sherry vinegar, since my supermarket didn't have it. I also added a tomato slice to each burger, since the picture showed one. Wow very yummy!

Hands down, best blue cheese burger yet! The first time I made them, I didn't have the sherry vinegar and the second time I did. I think the key here really is the grilled onions with or without the sherry vinegar. Both were delicious. I used fresh ground lean beef, fresh baked whole wheat hamburger buns and Trader Joe's crumbled Salem blue cheese. Don't forget to double up on the Tabasco! OUTSTANDING!!

when my husband mentions a food to EVERYONE we know when dining is mentioned, you know its good! Made as described and it was excellent. Have made 3x now and the only things I would change is the length of time the onions should be on the grill- but that's just a personal preference and not necessarily needed. Making again today for Father's day, per the hubby's request :)

These were terrific burgers! Both my roommates raved about them. The cooking times were perfect, and as the recipe points out, it's best to start with a 1/2 inch thick patty. I added a bit more hot sauce to the mayo since, as has been mentioned, there isn't much kick to the mayo spread. The onions falling through the grill grate is kind of a pain in the butt. I considered skewering them, but I don't think it would make much difference. The thing to remember is that if you get a BIG onion, you can stand to lose a fair bit to the grill and still have plenty of onion left over for the burgers. Definitely a first-rate burger.

These were really good. My husband doesn't always like the strong taste of blue cheese, but the mayo and hot sauce made the difference to him. Used dried thyme instead of fresh since that's what I had on hand. You will want to use all the blue cheese mayo mixture right away; I made the full batch for the 2 of us, thinking it would save me time later in the week when we had the leftovers, but a few days later, it was soupy and we ended up tossing it. Next time I'll just make what we need for that meal.

Didn't have the wow factor I thought it would. With the blue cheese mayo, grilled sirloin and onions; I expected more. Maybe the meat needed some extra seasoning to set it off. The best part of this burger was the grilled onions.

Loved this as the burger patties weren't anything special the blue cheese spread and sherry vinegar onions were the stars. I served my burgers with sweet potato fries and this meal didn't disapoint my family.

I hate to be one of those people who changes a recipe and then reviews it, but I wanted to give a big thumbs up for the bulk of this recipe. My husband can't eat onions, so I had to remove that part of the recipe, however, the rest of it, especially the blue cheese mayo spread, was amazing. To make up for some of the onion part, I sauteed some mushrooms with fine sherry, which while not giving the assertiveness of sherry vinegar, did add a nice sweetness that blended amazingly with the salty blue cheese.

@SharonBond Interesting... I had the exact opposite opinion. I ended up adding a lot of Tobasco to my burger b/c I was expecting it to be much spicier than the original recipe was.... my wife and I decided to tweak the recipe w/ doubling the amount of hot sauce next time... and we aren't as into hot stuff as you seem to be (habanero sauce is spicier than I like...)... I wonder if one of us did something wrong (either we had to little, or you had too much Tobasco...).. and I second the adding of a tomato slice... esp. once they are fresh in the summertime... Either way... these burgers are DELICIOUS! Be careful flipping the onions on the grill, and you may need to cook them slightly longer than called for depending on your grill (we ended up doing an extra minute or so on each side of the onion...) Cut them nice an' thick so they are easy to flip on the grill.... I look forward to making these many, many times this summer....

These were great, but beware of the amount of hot pepper sauce you put in. For some reason, the mayo turned out very fiery. And we regularly eat dishes with habanero or ghost pepper sauce as an ingredient. I'm going to make this again, just leaving out the Tabasco and see how it goes. The onions were wonderful but I think next time I'll add fresh tomato slices too.

This was a great marrying of flavors! We loved the blue cheese spread. Forgot to add vinegar but didn't notice the mistake until later!

This was incredible. I loved the thyme and the bite that the sweet onions had. We used venison in place of the beef which was really yummy. I can't wait to make this again!

These were great. The only change we made was to separate the onion into rings before we mixed em with the vinegar. Served with skewered baby potatoes (stole the idea from CL's grilled char with yukon golds).

This was amazing just as written. I used dried thyme since I didn't have fresh on hand. I will definately be making this again for visitors and many more times this summer! Awesome burgers.

Enjoyed this recipe. The blue cheese and the grilled sweet onions work well together. It was a nice alternative to the traditional burger. I thought that the tarragon may have been too pronounced since it was in the sauce and on the onion, but I will watch my measurements better next time and may omit some.

Amazing mix of flavors that went very well together. I used red onions instead of vidalia. I also chose a stronger blue. The blue and vinegar were fabulous together. I can't wait to have them again!!
